our name

SOLUS is an abbreviation for the Latin phrase Solus Christus which means Christ Alone. It is one of the 5 Solas of the Protestant Reformation, declaring that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man. Solus Christus proclaims that salvation is obtained through the atoning work of the cross of Christ alone, fully apart from our own works. The big idea is that it’s all about Jesus. It’s all because of Jesus, it’s all through Jesus, and ultimately, it’s all for Jesus. At the end of the day, our greatest passion is to see Jesus at the center of all things.

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be the glory forever. Amen.” //Romans 11:36

Our MISSION & Vision

MISSION // To center our lives around following Jesus, together.

VISION // To be a Christ-centered community that makes an eternal impact on the world around us.

The vision of Solus Church is rooted in a desire to see God’s will done in South Florida as it is in Heaven. In Heaven, we see all things revolving around Jesus. He alone is at the center and, as a result, all life perfectly flows from Him (Revelation 4:9-11). We long for the same to be true of our community through the Gospel, and believe that it all starts with just one life. Whether it’s a neighbor, coworker, family member, or classmate, it begins with individual lives that are led to find life with Jesus at the center. As these separate lives are united together, they grow to become a community through the work of God - a church family with Jesus at the center. Finally, as this community lives with a Christ-centered purpose, the surrounding world is able to experience the transforming power of heaven’s Gospel. As we look ahead, we don’t just see our community for what it is - broken and off-centered by sin - we see our community for what it could be through the Gospel - restored and re-centered by Jesus. It’s for that reason that our vision is to see Jesus at the center of all things, one life at a time.

Our Values

As a community of disciples following Jesus we seek to practically prioritize our lives around ten core values.

1  GOSPEL | We focus on what’s finished. Ephesians 2:1-9; Galatians 6:14; Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 11:26 //We seek to build and base our lives around the finished work of the cross by regularly proclaiming the gospel to ourselves and remembering Christ through the Communion Table.

2  SPIRIT | We hunger for God’s help. John 14:16-17; Ephesians 5:18; John 15:5; Zechariah 4:6 //We seek to do all things through the enabling power of God’s Holy Spirit by purposely making space in our lives to be led, filled, and formed by Him.

3  SCRIPTURE | We hold the Scriptures high. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 17:17; Colossians 3:16; James 1:22-25 //We seek to live out our faith according to the whole counsel of God’s word by devoting ourselves to the study and application of scripture.

4  PRAYER | We seek before we step. Luke 11:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Matthew 6:33; 1 Thessalonians 5:17 //We seek to invite God’s kingdom to come and will to be done on earth as it is in heaven by intentionally communicating with our Father in heaven through prayer.

5  WORSHIP | We long to see Jesus lifted. Ephesians 5:19-20; Psalm 33:1-3, John 4:24; 1 Corinthians 10:31 //We seek to worship Jesus in spirit and truth by singing about and doing all things for the glory and honor of His name.

6  COMMUNITY | We function as a family. 1 Corinthians 1:9; Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 2:19-22; Galatians 6:2 //We seek to be authentically known and deeply committed to one another in love by consistently gathering together in fellowship and community.

7  GENEROSITY | We steward with open hands. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2; Mark 10:45; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Peter 4:10 //We seek to serve God as faithful stewards of all that he has graciously entrusted to us by joyfully giving our time, talents, and treasures to the work of His kingdom.

8  EVANGELISM | We live like we’ve been sent. Mark 15:16; Matthew 5:16; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 //We seek to effectively lead people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus by boldly proclaiming, thoughtfully articulating, and personally demonstrating the gospel of grace to them.

9  DISCIPLESHIP | We lead as we follow. Romans 15:14; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Philippians 4:9; 2 Timothy 2:2 //We seek to help others grow in their discipleship to Jesus by relationally investing into them what God has invested into us.

10  KINGDOM | We look beyond ourselves. Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 10:14-15; Ephesians 4:1-5; Mark 9:38-41 //We seek to join God in the advancement of His kingdom by unifying with neighboring churches and potentially planting new ones.

Our Lead Pastor

Andrew Lundy was born and raised here in the Boca Raton community. He grew up fully immersed in the surfing and skateboarding culture of South Florida. It was largely through the spiritual investment of his parents and the church community at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale that he was led to trust in Christ for his salvation at the age of twelve. At eighteen years old, he met and fell in love with his wife, Brittany, at a discipleship school in the Bahamas, which served as a defining season of direction and calling for both their lives.

As a young and newlywed couple, they began serving Jesus together in High School Ministry at Calvary Chapel Boca Raton, where Andrew would serve as a youth pastor for several years. With a united heart for the “plentiful harvest” described in Matthew 9:35-38, they would talk and pray often about going out as missionaries to those who had not yet come to the saving knowledge of Jesus. This shared burden of theirs was largely founded on the Apostle Paul’s question in Romans 10:14, which asks, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”

Eventually, in His perfect timing, God took that stirring in their hearts and developed it into a clear calling to plant a church right in the community that they were presently living. After spending a year in a Church Planters Training Program at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, the time had come to pursue the call to plant Solus Church in Boca Raton.  As native South Floridians, they both care deeply about the ministry of the gospel and local church in this area. There is tremendous excitement and joy in their hearts for all that Jesus is doing and will continue to do in and through Solus Church!

Andrew and Brittany currently live in Boca with three their children, Judah, Evelyn “Evie”, and Penelope “Penny”, and their golden retriever, Cooper.
